2014 Lotus Elise Cup Racer - 1.6

The epitome of the British sports car, back to basics, lightweight, nimble and still devastatingly fast on a track or a B-road thanks to years of development and tweaking at Hethel. The Elise Club Sport is ultimate package, with the standard power of the base car, but with a weight saving (how that’s possible only the engineers know) of 24kg it is even more potent. The CR came equipped with Bilstein sports dampers and an adjustable anti-roll bar as standard. Further enhanced wit the DPM system to give the driver even more control of where they’re aiming than ever before.

 

This car presents beautifully for its age and mileage in the timeless red over black, striking in the sunlight and gaining lots of attention on the road and in the car park too. Lotus hit he nail on the head with the styling of the gen 3 Elise, it has the right mix of aggression and beauty, something the previous models lacked, purposeful. The black accents, which distinguish the CR from the standard cars, on the rear end and wheels really help with the modern look. It has hardly dated since its release and looks every bit as good as the driving experience itself.

 

 

On the road, the car has plenty of punch to enjoy the roads, but not so much that you fear waving your licence goodbye every time you look at the loud pedal. Supported with one of the best chassis any road going car has been graced with and AP Racing brakes from the factory the car just begs to be pushed in the corners, so willing and with so much feedback, it doesn’t get scary unlike some mid-engined monsters. A great way into Lotus ownership that will never leave you wanting more.

This CR comes with a great service history file, boasting 8 stamps in the book and even more services carried out that haven’t been stamped, two of those this year alone, the last being in June, we have re-gassed the AC, refurbished the wheels and polished the paintwork and valeted the interior of the car and it really does present very well. Owing to the fact that it has clearly had caring owners, fitting new lamps and having the front end sprayed to get rid of stone chips and freshen up the front end in recent years.

 

Thanks to its loving ownership, the car drives, runs and stops exactly as intended, with a lovely purposeful rasp from the exhaust, it really is a great driving experience, with the roof off or on!
